Representing Chicago and
the Entire State of Illinois
Sexual harassment in Illinois has taken a dramatic turn with the recent enactment of Public Act 101-0221 amended the Illinois Human Rights Act (“IHRA”) requiring: Illinois employers to provide annual sexual harassment prevention training by December 31, 2020 and annually thereafter; Additionally, restaurants and bars must establish and disseminate a written policy on sexual harassment prevention training and provide “supplemental” sexual harassment prevention training; and the Illinois Department of Human Rights (“IDHR”) will develop a model sexual harassment prevention training program for use by employers. Employers may develop their own sexual harassment prevention training program that equals or exceeds the minimum standards for sexual harassment prevention training outlined in Section 2-109(B) and/or Section 2-110(C) of IHRA. The training requires specific items to be taught and a log kept for proof of the training. This training is no longer optional and failure will result in fines and will be your business at severe risk should an employee file a sexual harassment complaint.
I developed a sexual harassment training program which is now available to all employers throughout the state of Illinois. My office provides training via telephone, video conference or in person. I can tailor my training program to suit your individual business and the needs of your employees. It is very important that your business take the training and ensure it is in compliance with the law. Sexual harassment training not only is required by law but can save your business thousands, tens of thousands or hundred of thousands of dollars in settlement amounts.
My office has successful sued many companies over the years and I have first-hand knowledge of the impact comments and actions by employees can have on the bottom line of a business. I have recovered millions of dollars over the years and have seen the severe consequences which take place when rules and policies aren’t followed. And with the #Me-too movement and focus from the media of sexual harassment, can your business really take the public relations hit from a legitimate sexual harassment complaint? Will your customers still do business with you if your company is sued from sexual harassment? It is not unreasonable to foresee negative consequences to your business if you fail to act.
Please contact my office to schedule a free evaluation and proposal for your business to take the mandatory sexual harassment training from a professionally who concentrates in sexual harassment lawsuits throughout the state of Illinois. Get ahead of the training and don’t wait until the end of the year when there is a rush to complete training. Remember, like anything else in your business, it is always better to be ahead of the curve, rather than wait and rush at the last minute.
